This guide will walk you through URL-based results.
Once the study has collected responses, go to “URL Paths & Click Maps” via the sidebar menu.
There are two different dashboard views:
- Tree URL Paths: Shows the paths participants took on a website in a series of connected nodes.
- Linear URL Paths: Shows the paths participants took on a website in single, horizontal paths.
❗Note: URL-based Tasks are not the same as Tree Tests within the MUiQ platform.
Within the Tree URL Paths and Linear URL Paths dashboards, each URL-based Task will show up in an individual tab, per condition.
The main viewing window will show tree URL paths by default.
A legend above the viewing window explains additional information found on each node.
Above the viewing window, you can search for a specific URL node by typing part of the desired URL in the search box. There are also options to reset your zoom or panning while exploring the tree URL paths.
The Linear URL Paths dashboard only has one viewing option.
The main viewing window will show tree URL paths by default.
You can change how many URLs are displayed as well as whether they are displayed in ascending or descending order by number of visits down an entire path.
Click Maps can be rendered as heat or click map options. Before clicking “Render Heat/Click Maps,” you can choose if you want to only look at first clicks and if you want to include study incompletes. Rendering may take a few minutes to complete.
❗Note: You may want to include study incompletes if the purpose of your study is to see first clicks, even if participants do not complete the task/study.
Once you have rendered heat/click maps, click on the URL you want to view the map for.
❗Note: The map will show you where participants clicked to move to another location.
Rendered heat/click maps will show you where participants clicked on a webpage. To leave a map, click the image again.
❗Note: A map is rendered for each screen resolution used so you may need to review multiple maps to get the full scope of clicks
You can also export URL path information using the “Export URL Path” button. This creates a CSV file of every recorded click by participants.
The data columns include:
- LS Response ID – This is the unique number assigned to each participant and is used to identify them throughout all study results sections
- Plugin Response ID – This is the unique number assigned to each participant response collected by the extension (this is for diagnostic purposes only)
- Visited URL – This is the direct web address of the webpage visited after the prior click (or upon task start)
- URL Visit Order – This shows the order each of the URLs were visited
- URL Visit Time Offset (s) – This is the cumulative time from when the first URL was opened to when the current URL was opened
- Clicked Page Element – This is the description of the type of html element that was clicked on.
- Redirection URL – If the element clicked on resulted in a redirect, this is the URL that the element redirected to
- Click Timestamp – This is the timestamp of when the click occurred
- Click Time Offset (s) – This is the time from when the URL loaded to when the current click occurred
- Cumulative Click Time Offset (s) – This is the time from when the first URL loaded to when the current click occurred
You can view participant videos by selecting “Participant Recordings” from the left menu.
To select a participant video, click anywhere in the participant’s row.
You can adjust the playback speed, volume, download the video, and make full screen from the player.
Below the player, you have the ability to make a clip of the video using the “+ Add Clip” button or you can record while the video plays using the “Record Clip” button.
