This guide will walk you through the System Requirements for participants. 

Desktop Studies:

1. Simple Surveys or Card Sort Surveys

Any standard desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.)

2. Non-Web-Task-based Studies (including Click Tests, 5s Tests, Tree Tests, Text/Image Tasks)

Any standard desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.)

3. URL/Web-Task-based Studies with Task Times only

Any standard desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.)

4. URL/Web-Task-based Studies with Task Times, URL Paths/Click Maps, and/or Video Recordings

• Chrome or Firefox (on Windows, MacOS, or Linux) 
• MUiQ Desktop Browser Extension Typically Required*
  • Studies provide installation instructions by default and auto-remove the extension upon study completion.
  • *You have the option to disable the extension or to make it optional for participants, but if participants do not install the extension, URL/clicks/video will not be recorded and validation by URL will not work nor continuing tasks from previous task end URLs. The URL/Web task pages and instructions will open in two separate browser windows.

5. Any Desktop Study with Full Study Think Aloud Recording

• Chrome or Firefox (on Windows, MacOS, or Linux) 
• MUiQ Desktop Browser Extension Always Required
  • Studies provide installation instructions by default and auto-remove the extension upon study completion.

Mobile Studies:

6. Simple Surveys or Card Sort Surveys

Any standard mobile browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.)

7. Non-URL/Web-Task-based Studies (including Click Tests, 5s Tests, Tree Tests, Text/Image Tasks*)

Any standard mobile browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.)

*This also includes Text/Image Tasks for Mobile App Studies, which furthermore requires:

• iOS Built-in Screen Recording Feature (minimum iOS 12.0) or Android Third Party Screen Recording App (eg. AZ Screen Recorder) 
• Note: Mobile Apps can be challenging to test on unmoderated platforms. MUiQ does not require SDK integration, but instead adds additional “Text/Image Tasks” with setup instructions: participants will be asked to download the app to be tested, configure their screen recording capabilities, and then upload their recordings at the end of the study.

8. Any URL/Web-Task-based Study

MUiQ Survey App for iOS or Android Always Required (minimum iOS 11.0, Android 5.0, or higher) 

• Studies provide installation instructions by default. App must be removed manually upon study completion.

9. Any Mobile Study with Full Study Think Aloud Recording

Not yet available on Mobile, coming soon 

• Will require MUiQ Survey App for iOS or Android
